Director Peyton Reed has hinted fans will see more of Scott Lang as Giant-Man next year in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Paul Rudd debuted as Lang in 2015’s Ant-Man before being recruited by Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) to join Steve Rogers’ team in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Although not much background information was provided in that film, Lang tested out a new formula in the field, which allowed him to become Giant-Man.
“The events of Captain America: Civil War gave us something clear, which is: What was Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne’s reaction to Scott having taken this technology out into the world in Civil War?” Reed said. “We had a lot of fun playing around with that. And we play with size and scale a lot. I love the idea of Giant-Man.” The highly-anticipated sequel is said to be Marvel Studios’ first romantic-comedy, and it will address the new formula.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will hit the screens on July 6, 2018.
