A case of defaming of Hinduism has been filed with the Valliyoor Sessions Court against actor Kamal Haasan.

During his recent interview to a popular regional television channel, Kamal reportedly made disparaging remarks against Hindu epic ‘Mahabharat’ and about Hindu’s time-tested world-class heritage, tradition and culture. Hindu movements in the State erupted against Kamal Haasan, burnt his effigies and demanded an open apology from him for defaming Hinduism and Hindus.

Adhinatha Sundaram of Pazhavur near Valliyoor in Tirunelveli District, who has been indulged in a petty business in a neighbouring village, has moved the Valliyoor District Sessions Court urging it to instruct the police to register a case of defamation of Hinduism against Kamal Haasan.

“During his interview broadcast on 12th March on a private television channel, Kamal Haasan had made derogatory remark against Hindus and Hinduism and even spoken badly about ‘Mahabharat’. I request the Hon’ble Court to instruct police to register case of defamation of Hinduism against Kamal Haasan,” Sundaram’s petition filed with the Court said thus.
