Multi-faceted Aishwarya, daughter of superstar Rajinikanth and wife of the national award-winning actor Dhanush, performed a Bharatnatyam recital at the United Nations’ headquarters in New York, U.S.A. on the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ on 08th February.

Aishwarya, who is credited to have ‘redeemed’ Dhanush’s inner-personality in a strikingly similar manner in which her mother Latha did to her father and superstar Rajinikanth, is also a noted film-maker and an author. Trained formally in classic Bharatnatyam, Aishwarya performed at the U.N. as she danced not to conventional music but to a lyric composed by national award-winning lyricist Vairamuthu.

The dance recital was part of the celebrations organized by the U.N. General Assembly. Vairamuthu’s Avasara Thalattu, which was part of a collection of his poems titled Raththa Dhanam, was a fitting poem chosen for the occasion as it chronicled in detail the various challenges at home/workplace faced and countered effectively by working women in India and abroad.

Aishywarya later also danced for a song sung by the legendary M.S. Subbulakshmi, drawing thunderous applause from the audiences.

Kudos to Aishwara!
